Our
Curriculum
Toddler to PK 4 Curriculum
Using the Office of Early Learning Developmental Standards, KBPS focuses on critical developmental areas while covering the academic skills necessary to succeed in school. We utilize a Place-based Learning approach that immerses the children in the local community and environment to connect their learning to the world they see every day. Being able to plan and learn in our outdoor space bordered by beautiful Biscayne Bay as well as a native mangrove forest offers students an opportunity to develop curiosity and experience a sense of wonder that cannot be found on a worksheet or coloring page. Harvesting from our school garden, exploring our Outdoor Classroom, and focusing on environmental responsibility also add to the student’s experience as effective stewards of God’s Creation. These ideals are reinforced by our weekly Bible stories and Christian values that serve as our foundation.
Kindergarten & First Grade
Our Kindergarten and First-grade curricula are developed based on published Language Arts and Math programs and the Florida Department of Education Standards, as published on the CPalms website.
Using published curricula for Language Arts and Math ensures that our students receive the necessary content mandated by the State of Florida. Science and Social Studies learning opportunities are designed to integrate with Language Arts and Math and focus on the local environment and community.
Because we strive to provide more than the minimum requirements, we offer our students learning experiences that develop their critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity. In addition, we are proud to offer generous daily recess.
